AFCO Joins Legacy Health & Wellness

AFCO Industries, Inc. to Join Legacy Health & Wellness

Alexandria, Louisiana – AFCO Industries, Inc. has signed an agreement, effective June 1, 2014, to join Legacy Health & Wellness. AFCO is the latest company to join the clinic, formed in early 2011 as a partnership between RoyOMartin and Gilchrist Construction Company, L.L.C., and formerly known as the Central Louisiana Family Health and Wellness Center.

Legacy Health & Wellness offers care from a board-certified physician, Brian Elkins, M.D., FAAFP, who is supported by a team of medical and administrative professionals. Employees and eligible dependents from AFCO, Gilchrist Construction, and RoyOMartin can receive treatment for a variety of common illnesses and chronic conditions with healthy-lifestyle coaching. Other services include blood work; EKGs; men’s, women’s, and pediatric wellness checks; sports-related physicals; tobacco cessation resources; minor surgical procedures; and more. Patients enjoy access to quality care that is efficiently managed, with minimal wait time. Legacy Health & Wellness prides itself on its attentiveness to and holistic assessment of each patient.

“Our goal, when opening the clinic, was all about improving care and health outcomes for our employees and their families,” explains Roy O. Martin III, president and CFO of RoyOMartin. “We believe that access to quality primary care leads to longer, healthier lives. Besides, healthy employees are more productive employees.” Since opening the clinic, RoyOMartin has seen increased employee productivity and decreases in insurance costs and unnecessary emergency room visits.

“We shared common goals with RoyOMartin when we opened the medical home. The patient-centered medical approach was an opportunity for us to focus on employee well-being from a holistic view, resulting in a healthier and more productive workforce,” stated Valerie Aymond, a chief resource officer at Gilchrist Construction Company. “Since the clinic opened, we have experienced an enhanced awareness among our employees regarding the importance of overall good health and healthy lifestyles.”

AFCO CEO and Chairman Jim Waters states, “As an employee-owned company, AFCO is always seeking the best benefits for its people. I think the clinic represents state-of-the-art healthcare, and we are thrilled to be able to offer this service to our employees.” Legacy Health & Wellness plans to hold an open house later this month specifically for AFCO employees to see the practice and meet the staff.

Legacy Health & Wellness Center is located at 3516 North Boulevard in Alexandria and is managed by RoyOMartin affiliate Rapides Nursing Services, L.L.C.
