GCC Project 1270

The scope of this project was repair and replace a damaged bridge section at the I-49 Overpass on Sugarhouse Road in Alexandria, Louisiana.  

GCC assembled and built the new, replacement section at the Gilchrist Compound on New York Avenue.  

We used a method of bridge construction known as ABC, accelerated bridge construction.  Using self-propelled modular transporters, we efficiently moved the old section out and moved a new section in place. 

We used this method instead of "conventional construction" to reduce risk from a safety perspective and to minimize the inconvenience to the traveling public.
